About the DJGT
The Desert Junior Golf Tour was founded in the fall of 2002 by Dan and Camilla Plunkett. The Desert Junior Golf Tour is a unique junior tour experience that allows boys and girls between the ages of 8-19 the opportunity to play nationally ranked junior golf tournaments. The tour presents juniors the chance to showcase their talents and receive national recognition at a very reasonable cost.
We offer a quality tour experience, specifically designed for junior golfers. Tournaments are held on first class, championship caliber golf courses, organized and run by professionally trained personnel.
The DJGT was established to give our elite junior golfers a place to play and keep their competitive edge up during the off-season. The DJGT was a Fall/Winter tour for 8 seasons and have now expanded to a year round schedule. The ideal climate of the desert has attracted players from all over the United States as well as players from Canada, Mexico, and Switzerland. The 2010-11 season will be the inaugural season to go outside the Arizona border with an event scheduled in Albuquerque and Nevada. We strive to continue growing the tour and setting the bar high for all competitors. All venues are played on championship courses at distances that match national ranking criteria. Our goal is to continue providing all the necessary resources for any junior golfer to succeed at the highest level on and off the course. Along with top-notched venues we provide resources such as college recruiting, community service, physical fitness, and mind coaching to each player. The DJGT has prepared alumni’s to move on to succeed at the collegiate and pro level. Seeing our members prosper in life and golf has been our biggest satisfaction.
MEET THE TEAM
Lisa Kaahanui – Tour Operator/Owner
Lisa has been a part of the DJGT since 2002, as a parent and a staff member. Being a part of the tour since its inception Lisa has been instrumental in developing the Tour to meet the needs of the parents and players today. Having six children, five of which have grown up on the DJGT, Lisa knows the importance in the development and direction of the DJGT. Watching her own children develop from local events to national events have given her insight to what is important in building happy, successful, and respectful junior golfers. She works tirelessly finding ways to keep the DJGT growing and affordable to all that love the game. Her background includes being the Director of Operations for 4 years at the Kent Chase Golf Academy which was home to the highest level junior golfers in the state of Arizona. She has also had the privilege of attending numerous invitational and national events throughout the country which has brought valuable ideas back to the DJGT. Teaching the importance of giving back to the community and excelling in the classroom to the DJGT members this year is another example of the commitment Lisa has to the DJGT.
